Benny Mantin

Benny Mantin is a Professor and the Director of the Luxembourg Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LCL). Professor Mantin joined the LCL in January 2017 but was involved in setting up the centre since September 2016.

His research covers different aspects of dynamic pricing and revenue management, supply chain management, and transportation economics. Using game theory frameworks, Prof. Mantin seeks to explore and understand the strategic interactions between suppliers, vendors, and consumers in different market settings. He also conducts extensive empirical work using retail and airfare data. In his research, Benny addresses topical and compelling questions and his research has been published or accepted for publication in numerous journals such as Marketing Science, Production and Operations Management, Naval Research Logistics, Transportation Research Parts B and E, and European Journal of Operational Research.

Prof. Mantin is a board member of the Journal of Air Transport Management and he is on the advisory board of the Hamburg Aviation Conference.

His research has been recognized and supported by several grants.

Prof. Mantin has been engaged in consulting on air-transport policies and has been involved in numerous projects where he led students to improve processes at different firms.

Prior to joining the LCL, Prof. Mantin was an Associate Professor in the Department of Management Sciences at the University of Waterloo, Canada. He received his Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia, and M.Sc. as well as B.Sc. from Tel-Aviv University.

Kai Hoberg

Prof. Dr. Kai Hoberg is Associate Professor of Supply Chain and Operations Strategy at the Kühne Logistics University in Hamburg since May 2012.

Before, he was Assistant Professor of Supply Chain Management at the University of Cologne. In his academic career, he was a visiting scholar at different top universities, e.g. Cornell University, Oxford University, Israel Institute of Technology, and National University of Singapore.

Kai Hoberg earned a Diplom Degree in Industrial Engineering.

Before returning to academia, Kai Hoberg worked as a strategy consultant and project manager for Booz & Company from 2006 to 2010. He conducted supply chain and operations management projects for numerous clients, in particular in consumer, chemicals and discrete manufacturing industries.

Currently, he is active as faculty for executive supply chain education for multinational firms and consultancies. Since 2017 he is a member of the scientific advisory board of BVL.

Kai Hoberg’s current research focuses on the impact of new technologies on supply chain management, supply chain analytics, and inventory modeling. He is currently conducting research projects with firms like McKinsey & Company, Procter & Gamble, Jungheinrich, Tchibo or Zalando. His research is published in esteemed journals like Production & Operations Management, Journal of Operations Management or Supply Chain Management Review.
